A walk-off homer sends California to the Little League World Series title. A dream come true for Louis Lappe.

Gopher FB opens up Thursday against Nebraska. Remember when Nebraska was, well, Nebraska? New coaching staff for the Cornhuskers, who have suffered through six straight losing seasons.

Heading to the Fair today for work, send me your top selection (pickle and non pickle categories).

Twins Win Behind Walk-Off Walk; Showdown with Guardians on Tap

The Twins have found new ways to lose games, but finally found a new way to win a game. Michael A. Taylor walked with the bases loaded - the Twins’ third straight walk - in the 13th inning as the Twins outlasted the Rangers 7-6 in a game they trailed by five runs early on.

I mentioned a few weeks back that Dallas Keuchel could be a clutch bullpen guy with a shortened rotation in the playoffs. Well, the former Cy Young winner threw five scoreless innings, allowing the Twins to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth. Now, I’m still not sure Keuchel won’t make the rotation in the playoffs. He probably should.

Further AL MVP candidate Royce Lewis clobbered a grand slam with the Twins trailing by five in the sixth inning.

The Twins lead Cleveland by six games, and what do you know, the Guardians come to town for three games beginning tonight. Win even one of three, and a five-game lead would be hard for Cleveland to make up in September. Win two of three, things are looking golden and if the Twins sleep, it’s all she wrote.

Vikings End Pre-Season 0-3; Still 13 Days Till Opener

The NFL has been clamoring for a 17-game regular season for years - more money, of course. The Vikings limped across the pre-season finish line 0-3 with an 18-17 home loss to Arizona on Saturday afternoon.

I get that these joint practices can get players game ready, but gosh it’s hard to watch Kirk Cousins and Justin Jefferson head into the Sept. 10 opener against Tampa Bay without so much as a snap in a pre-season game.

The Vikings have until Tuesday to submit their final roster.

Loons Forge 1-1 Tie with Seattle

The Seattle Sounders have owned the Loons for six years, but Minnesota was able to earn a key tie, 1-1 at Allianz Field yesterday afternoon. The Loons were fortunate - Seattle scored an own goall in the 56th minute to tie things up.

The Sounders had won 11 of the all-time meetings with Minnesota.

The Loons, clinging to the final wild card spot in the West, host last-place Colorado on Wednesday in a game they need to win. Minnesota has tied seven of its 11 home games this season…

Liberty Blows Out Lynx

Any mojo the Lynx gained by back-to-back wins went away in a hurry, as New York whacked them 111-76 on Saturday. Star Breanna Stewart scored 38 points for the Liberty, who held Napheesa Collier to just 10 points.

Minnesota visits Washington on Tuesday. After that, just four games remain in the regular season. The Lynx is two back of fourth place Dallas - the top four in the WNBA have home court in a best-of-three first round series. If the season ended today, Minnesota would open in Dallas in said series.
