Like Willy Wonka and his chocolate factory, once a year junior hockey’s next wave of talent comes to Geneva, Illinois hoping to earn a golden ticket into the best organization in junior hockey—the Chicago Steel. Summer is the official start of the new hockey season as the Steel host Tryout/Development Camp. Blue chip prospects like Owen Power, Adam Fantilli, and Macklin Celebrini have been the norm for the Steel the last three seasons. Head Coach and GM Mike Garman and a new leadership group of returners prepare for an all-hands-on-deck approach in ’23-24, requiring everyone to buy in and step up.
