Ke Huy Quan: The Most Excited Comeback Kid in Hollywood.

“Mom, I just won an Oscar!”

The words that shined light on a new era of Hollywood. An era of authentic, humble actors that act for the love of acting rather than for fame and money (good perks though right?).

I’m not a movie junkie, so the Oscars are something I watch to judge celebrities much prettier than I and understand the memes that come after. But the second I watched Ke Huy Quan walk across the red (champagne) carpet, he emulated a wholesome and raw energy that was magnetic. Even though I briefly recognized him through his role as a child in “Indiana Jones,” I felt this draw toward Quan and began fascinated with him.

Quan was an Academy Awards nominee for best supporting actor for his role in “Everything Everywhere All at Once.” But the moment Ariana DeBose, the presenter for this category, choked up as she announced Quan’s name, Quan went from nominee to Academy Award winner… and became the ultimate Hollywood comeback kid.

This wasn’t your typical reaction to an Oscar win, but rather a display of authentic emotions Hollywood has seemed to lose. Comparing his initial mood to his emotions on stage, it was evident Quan came to the Oscars excited to be there, be alongside his colleagues, humbled by the nominations and eventually, purely stoked to have won. Even before winning an Oscar, Quan was leaping for joy in his Glambot. Oscar or not, Quan is showing everyone the pure joy of doing something you love and going after what makes you happy.

To think his excitement ended at his win, “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” went on to win best picture. To celebrate another time on the stage, Quan gave presenter (and “Indiana Jones” co-star) Harrison Ford a big ol’ hug. This reunion captured the hearts of the audience as we all experienced a raw, human reaction to quite literally the best day of this man’s life.

Ke Huy Quan’s Party Didn’t Stop at the Oscars

There’s no better way to say that this man quite literally was bouncing around the Oscars. Quan is pictured smiling from ear-to-ear with an Oscar in one hand… an In-N-Out Burger in the other, posing with Oscar nominee Ana De Armas, and of course, legitimately bouncing all over the stage of the post-award ceremony press conference.

He went onto the Jimmy Kimmel show the day after the Oscars, appearing as though he hadn’t slept since winning the golden award. On air Quan said, “I will never go to sleep, Jimmy. I can’t let the best day of my life end!”

Hollywood has longed for energy and excitement like Quan’s and we are hoping to see more of it.

Ke Huy Quan: The 2023 Comeback Kid

While now Quan’s name is all the buzz on social media, it hasn’t always been that way. Aside from appearing in huge films like “Indiana Jones” and “The Goonies,” Quan’s more recent resume is less impressive.

With his role in “Everywhere Everything All at Once,” he’s made a huge comeback to Hollywood. A chunk of his speech touched on his journey back into acting and how persistence can get you to success. “I almost gave up,” said Quan. But, even though he almost gave up, he didn’t. No matter how much time passed, he persisted, and Quan’s comeback proved more than successful… it was Oscar-worthy.
