Friendship is one of life’s greatest treasures. Nothing beats a good rant session, road trip or movie marathon seated beside a best friend. Friends can come from school, the gym, work, but what about those unexpected friendships? These are the friends that met through some obscure scenario, bringing together two souls unlikely to cross paths otherwise.
Celebrities are no different. Thanks to social media, we see a plethora of unlikely friendship pairings—all claiming a different tone of strangeness. There are numerous odd celebrity pairings, but there are a few that have truly taken the cake regarding shock value.
1. Yung Gravy and Sheri Easterling
This pair has to be one of the most iconic, talked about friendships lately. It's no secret Yung Gravy has a thing for moms, but this time, he's hanging with Sheri Easterling: the mother of TikTok star Addison Rae.
According to Gravy, the friendship gained traction when he started flirting with her over TikTok. These flirtatious exchanges followed rumors indicating that Easterling’s husband, Monty Lopez, and model Renee Ash had an affair. As expected, this only added fuel to the fire that kindled Gravy’s new relationship. Subsequently, Lopez publicly challenged Gravy to a fight in response to his moves made on Easterling.
Gravy then posted a TikTok where he said, "I'm a grown man. I'm not going to fight you over TikTok drama. You've got one of the most successful daughters in the world and you decide to act half her age to try to get some attention while embarrassing your whole family."
While they are not actually dating, rumors continue to circulate around the true nature of this bizarre bond. Only time will tell if this connection is genuine, rather than a publicity stunt. Regardless, this friendship does turn heads, and really shakes up the concept of a traditional relationship. Yung Gravy undeniably remains on brand in his signature MILF pursuit.
2. Jojo Siwa and Kim Kardashian
This one is well known, yet still strange in every way. Energetic, sparkle-covered child pop star Jojo Siwa has somehow become friends with the sultry, reality mogul Kim Kardashian. Seemingly complete opposites, these two have formed a special bond, and have spoken publicly about their admiration for one another. It started when Jojo Siwa made a video about babysitting Kim’s daughter, North West, which now boasts 47 million views on YouTube.
After Siwa spent the day with North, Kim commented on her admiration for Siwa, and how she is an amazing role model for young girls. Kim even gave Siwa a shoutout, wishing her good luck before she competed on “Dancing with the Stars.”
Both Kim and Siwa are no strangers to the realms of reality television, and Kim believes that Siwa is a positive force within the media that children are exposed to everyday. A unique combo of sparkles and chicness, these two friends are a prime example of an unlikely pairing.
3. Snoop Dog and Martha Stewart
Perhaps the most well-known peculiar duo is Snoop Dog and Martha Stewart. This friendship has endured the test of time. In 2008, Martha invited Snoop on “The Martha Stewart Show” to artfully craft some mashed potatoes together, and since then, they have been attached to the hip.
Snoop and Martha were somewhat shocking at first, but as time passed, they became a popular subject in the media. Snoop has referred to Martha as the big sister he never had, and she helps him be a better person.
Despite Martha being a daytime show cooking star, popular among middle-aged moms, she still found comfort in the way Snoop was laid back (whether Marijuana was or wasn’t involved in their interaction). That's right, there are rumors Snoop got Martha into the cannabis scene—who would have thought? This newfound passion blossomed into a cooking show on VH1 called “Martha and Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party,” a marijuana-based cooking show.
On another occasion, both stars appeared in Comedy Central’s “Roast of Justin Bieber,” where they continued to show off their wholesome rapport. It seems as if each of these icons is breaking down the perceptions the public originally had about them. One of music’s most famous rappers and perhaps the biggest cooking star on daytime TV have done nothing but impress the public with their playful dynamic.
