Goodbye Dick Bremer — Hello Halloween Snow, Rangers, & Wild

The great thing about the Halloween snow in Minnesota was it was easy to put out the Halloween bonfire in the driveway.

Rangers lead 3-1 and try to win the World Series in Phoenix tonight. However, to be brutally honest, I haven’t watched a second of the World Series so far — along with many of you.

No shock to someone who spent half his professional life in sports PR that when Dick Bremer retired as voice of the Twins, it wasn’t 100 percent his choice. Forty years for your hometown team is a heck of a run.

Wild hosts New Jersey on Thursday.

Vikings Bring in Josh Dobbs at QB

There were plenty of names brought up for the Vikings’ new QB1 after Kirk Cousins was lost for the season. You didn’t hear much about Josh Dobbs. Now, to be fair, Dobbs is currently the back-up to Jaren Hall, but you’d expect he’ll wind up starting once he gets used to this system. The Vikings got Dobbs and a draft pick for a draft pick from Arizona before the trade deadline yesterday. The Vikings also shipped out offensive lineman Ezra Cleveland to Jacksonville for a sixth-round pick.

Dobbs is a former University of Tennessee QB who was a first-time starter for a bad Cardinals team this year. He’s started 10 career games between last year and this year - and he’s won just a single game. That’s of course one more than Hall, who made his debut last week.

It’ll be interesting to see how much leverage Kevin O’Connell gives Hall after this week against Arizona. The Vikings bye isn’t for another month. After the Falcons on Sunday, Minnesota hosts New Orleans then heads to Denver for the first of back-to-back primetime games.

Tale of Two Halves for Wolves in Loss in Atlanta

Per The Athletic, prior to Monday there had been 229 teams who have scored 79 or more first-half points. NONE have scored fewer than the Wolves’ did in Monday’s 127-113 loss in Atlanta. Seventy nine in the first 24 minutes, and just 34 in the final 24 minutes. That’s really something.

Honestly this is a game that the Wolves have far too often played under Chris Finch (and every coach before him). The inconsistency on this team is just maddening (insert: any Minnesota winter sports team).

The Wolves absolutely shut down their entire game. They let the Hawks shoot 56 percent. Minnesota hit a measley nine of 15 free throws.

Until this team can put together 48 minutes on a consistent basis, you can’t take them seriously as a Western Conference contender.

The thing about them, of course, is that they host NBA champion Denver tonight and they’ll probably win by 30.
