Wolves Blitz Blazers, Streak into All-Star Break
No mailing it in for the Wolves, who head into the All-Star break with four straight wins and a 1.5* game lead in the West after last night’s dominating 128-91 win in Portland. Since a bad OT loss to Chicago to start their five-game road trip, Minnesota beat Milwaukee, the Clippers and then Portland twice. Anthony Edwards, Karl-Anthony Towns and Chris Finch head to Indianapolis for the All-Star Game on Sunday. The Wolves return to play a week from tonight with a nationally televised showdown with Milwaukee.
Last night in Portland, the Wolves left little doubt they came to play, with an outrageous 44-14 lead after the first quarter. They shot 68 percent and allowed Portland just 21 percent in the opening 12 minutes. ANT led them with 34 points in just 33 minutes.
Minnesota has 27 conference wins-four more than any other team in the West. They’ve also got three more road wins (20) than any other team in the NBA.
Gopher BB Puts Scare into Purdue on Road
The Gophers threatened to shock the college hoops world last night, taking an eight-point halftime lead at No. 2 Purdue before ultimately succumbing 84-76. Dawson Garcia returned from injury to lead Minnesota with 24 points. This team could beat anyone at Target Center next month. But they could also lose to anyone.

The Wild is only five games back of the last playoff spot, but has to leapfrog three teams in order to get there. If they play like they have the last two games, anything is possible. But what will they get Saturday afternoon against a sub-par Buffalo team at The X...
Gopher Hockey
It’s third-place Minnesota versus fourth-place Notre Dame in South Bend this weekend, although the teams are eight points apart. Just one series left in the regular season.
Huge weekend for the women in Madison. No. 2 Badgers versus No. 5 in nation and No. 3 in WCHA Gophers. The Badgers still have a shot at No. 1 Ohio State but wouldn’t if the Gophers could win a game.
