What Your Wordle Starting Word Says About You.

We all have our morning routines. Some include a daily cup of joe, an ice roller to the face, some even have enough energy for morning stretches. A new step in morning routines around the globe has been whipping out a phone and giving your best shot at the daily Wordle.

If you’ve been living under a rock, Wordle is the daily game bought out by the New York Times that allows you five guesses to find the word of the day. While guessing the word is the goal, people have developed their unique techniques on how to get there. Starting with the first word.

Popular First Wordle Words

While there is no right answer to the perfect first word, there has been research to what words usually get you the best head start. Usually, a word loaded with vowels is a good approach. A mathematician, Grant Sanderson, figured out an algorithm to find out the best starting word. His findings led to words such as: salet, trace and crate.

Sanderson’s formula to ensuring success in Wordle has proven to be quite efficient but that’s not to say your go-to word isn’t. Your Wordle starting word is quite telling of the kind of person you are.

ADIEU

If your go-to starting word is ADIEU, you don’t mess around. You’re the kind of person that gets to the game early, grabs food and drinks immediately, heads straight to your seats and only goes to the bathroom or gets a snack during Zamboni time.

It’s safe to assume that you have never gotten the Wordle wrong, and you usually get it correct within three or less tries. ADIEU is the coveted word in the Wordle community for having pretty much every vowel. However unfortunately for you, you might never guess the Wordle correctly the first time… but there is always hope.

OILED

Two words for you: Dirty dog. Your search history is almost *always* cleared out and you’re constantly making “that’s what she said jokes.” If OILED is the starter for you, you’re not only frisky but quirky. Yes, “A” and “E” are both important, but you have a deep love for the lesser used vowels of “I” and “O.” Besides, you already got an “E” so why not throw some others out there and see what you can catch!

STARE

Unlike ADIEU, you kind of enjoy trailing off the beaten path. While STARE is considered a very productive and good first word, it isn’t scientifically the best. You might feel like STARE is your happy medium between a risk and a safe bet. “R” and “T” are very popular consonants paired with two solid vowels, “A” and “E,” you like knowing you’re bound to be successful.

If your starting word is STARE, you like a little bit of risk… but not too much. You only buy a few lottery tickets and after you break slightly even, you throw in the towel. For vacation prep, you research the city just enough to have your bearings, but not too much that you aren’t surprised by the beauty (or disappointment) of your getaway location.

CHAOS

First off, why are you yelling? Second off, the hell with the “E” eh? CHAOS is the word for someone who chooses to start their day off with violence (that is if you do the Wordle first thing in the morning, which is doubtful). You started Wordle because your mom wouldn’t stop texting you about it and since she isn’t stopping soon, you look up the word after your five failed attempts, text it to her before she gives it a shot and ruin her day.

Spring break trip? You’re packing the day of. Got work? You’re late and forgot your name tag. Friend’s birthday? Shit, that was yesterday.

You’re not very dependable but you can always depend on CHAOS to get your Wordle started.

HEART

Unlike CHAOS, the starting word HEART is the best of both worlds. It is a great start to finding the Wordle of the day with vowels and three solid consonants; Plus, it’s an adorable word.

If you’re going to do something, you’re going to do it with flare. You don’t like to half-ass anything in life, and you’re sure as hell are not going to half-ass the Wordle! Everything in your life is cohesive, there isn’t a plate in your house that doesn’t have a matching bowl.

Your Wordle, Your Way

Much like morning routines, your Wordle starting word tells a lot about your personality and day-to-day habits. Whether you’re calculated or chaotic, guessing the Wordle of the day is up to you. Let us know your go-to Wordle starting word by tweeting @PulltabSports.
