St. Thomas is looking for a new head coach after a stunning mid-season resignation by Joel Johnson, the longtime Gopher assistant and 2022 USA Olympic coach. More to come on this no doubt. He coached last Friday, but not Saturday, for what it’s worth…

Aaron Rodgers to the Vikings in 2025? I kid I kid (mostly). His current team has a new GM.

Brodin Back with GWG for Wild

Jonas Brodin returned from injury to score the game-winner late in regulation and Kirill Kaprizov continued his torrid season with two more goals as the Wild staved off the Blues 4-2 in St. Louis last night.

Brodin and Joel Eriksson Ek had both missd the last couple games but were key cogs in the victory. And how about Kaprizov, who recorded two or more points for the ninth time in 10 road games. The man is going to get paid next summer - sure hope it’s by Craig Leipold.

Minnesota’s 27 points (12-3-3) are tied with Washington for the second most in the NHL. The Wild’s 18 road points are the most in the NHL.

Minnesota is at Edmonton and Calgary - two teams in the top four in the Pacific - on Thursday and Saturday.

Gopher Men’s Hoops Pulls Away from Cleveland State

The Gophers shook off a couple subpar performances (well it remains to be seen, maybe that’s their par), pulling away late in the second half for a 58-47 win over Cleveland State last night at Williams Arena.

The biggest surprise? Someone other than Dawson Garcia led the Gophers in scoring. Billionth-year senior Parker Fox scored 18 points, including this wild near half court 3-pointer to end the firwst half. .

Minnesota enjoyed a 15-4 free throw line advantage.

The Gophers are off until next Monday. The women return to The Barn tonight to play Eastern Illinois.
