Caitlin versus Angel then Paige against Juju tonight (with correct 3-point line placement, allegedly)! Zach Edy versus D.J. Burns Jr. should be a big-man’s delight in the Final Four next weekend.

Minnesota State wins BOTH Division II men’s and women’s hoops national championships. Horns up.

If that was Rashee Rice drag racing on a freeway in Dallas, he shouldn’t play an NFL snap this year.

Loons finally lose a game, 2-0 against Philly.

Bulls Shoot Lights Out at Target Center

I expected a bit of a letdown after the Wolves’ blowout win of Denver to take over No. 1 in the West on Friday. While there was definitely some of that, the Bulls just flat out shot the ball well, making 17 3-pointers en route to a 109-101 win at Target Center last night. Minnesota’s four-game win streak was snapped. They host Houston on Tuesday. The loss dropped them to third in the West.

The Wolves shot horribly early and late. In between, they climbed themselves out of a 16-point deficit to actually take a one-point lead late in the fourth. But then they couldn’t buy a bucket again.

Minnesota shot a woeful 11-of-37 3-pointers - yes, they took 37. Anthony Edwards scored 22 points but was 0-for-5.

Gopher Hockey’s Run Ends Short of Frozen Four

The Gophers took a two-goal lead against Boston University and looked well on their way to a third straight Frozen State - a mere miles from campus - and then the bottom fell out. The Terriers scored six of the game’s final seven goals en route to a 6-3 win in Sioux Falls and a date with the University of Denver at The X in two weeks.

A ton of production from Jaxon Nelson and Bryce Brodzinski. Not enough from the rest of the team, and Justen Close was just average in this tournament.

Jimmy Snuggerud is headed to the NHL - this week.

BC and Michigan round out the Frozen Four.

Twins Take Two of Three in KC

Some of the goodwill that was built up from a pair of pitching duel wins in Kansas City went away yesterday, when the Royals roughed up Bailey Ober early and often in an 11-0 series ending loss.

But the Twins will take two of three heading into a Tuesday and Wednesday series in Milwaukee.

Great starts from both Pablo Lopez and Joe Ryan. Nice to see the latter back out there after a dreadful last two months of last season. And while Byron Buxton looked terrific in two games - he did get a day off Sunday - the news on Royce Lewis isn’t good. He’ll miss at least a month with that quad injury suffered in the opener. Remember, this is a guy with two rebuilt knees, as we worry about Buxton’s health.

Wild on Elimination’s Doorstep

Nine games left, eight points out. The math isn’t going to work out for the Wild, and wasn’t going to anyways even before John Hynes made the decision to pull his goalie in overtime. That meant that when Vegas scored the game-winner Saturday at The X, the Wild lost the “loser point.”

The Wild hosts the Sens on Tuesday.
