Loons host second-place Cincinnati tonight with a chance to move into eighth in the West. No. 8 hosts No. 9 in one-game playoff.

Wolves Executive VP of Basketball Ops Sachin Gupta leaves team weeks before training camp to join Chelsea of the Premier League.

Wild training camp opens Thursday.

It’s okay to be happy for Kirk Cousins if only because you should loathe the Eagles.

Gopher women ranked third in pre-season. Chloe Primerano is named Pre-Season Rookie of the Year. Lofty expectations for the Canadian who was the first female skater ever selected into the WHL (she didn’t play). Could go down as one of the Gopher greats.

Twins Split First Two in Cleveland

The Twins rebounded from one of their worst losses of the season - at least statistically speaking - with a 4-1 win in Cleveland behind Zebby Matthews and the bullpen.

Monday, after Griffin Jax got out of a bases loaded jam in the seventh, he gave up a two-run home run in the eighth to give the Guardians the game. In a 30-day stretch, the Twins lost FIVE games in which they had an 85 percent chance of winning sometime during the game.

That’s obviously costly when you’re clinging to a 1.5 game Wild Card lead with 11 games left

Last night, Matthews didn’t last five innings but allowed just one run. Newcomer Cole Irvin - the Twins claimed him just for the final two weeks of the season, he can’t pitch in the post-season - and four other relievers combined to not allow a run.

Jax got the ninth ahead of Jhoan Duran. He’s clearly becoming Rocco’s go-to guy, and deservedly so.

Bailey Ober gets the ball in game three of the four-game series tonight. Detroit - its nearest pursuer in the Wild Card - is playing Kansas City.

Lynx Outlast Sun, Claim No. 2 Seed

What a game in Uncasville, Conn. Napheesa Collier scored 25 points but got the biggest assist of the night, passing the ball to Bridget Carleton for a game-winning 34-foot, 3-pointer as the Lynx locked up the No. 2 seed with a 78-76 win last night.

The game featured eight lead changes in the final 2:25, and four in the last 23 seconds alone.

Minnesota has won seven straight, and 13 of 14 since the Olympics. They’re assured of facing seventh-place Phoenix in a best-of-three series beginning Sunday at Target Center. In a twist on traditional formats, and to help with travel one would assume, the Lynx would host Games 1 and 2 and go to Phoenix for Game 3.
