Vikings/Giants to kick off the NFL season Sunday. Sure looks like this team is iffy to make the post-season. They’ve got an early bye, with a no-joke schedule the first five weeks. I’ll go 8-9 in a very so-so season.

Gopher FB looks to bounce back against Rhode Island on Saturday. The rest of the new-loook Big 10 was 17-0 last week…

Los Angeles 2028 may have a hard time getting top players to commit to tennis after two of the three men’s medal winners bowed out early at the U.S. Open. L.A. being a hard court could help.

Twins Turning it Around

With Byron Buxton rehabbing in St. Paul, the resurgent Twins have won three of four, with the lone blemish an ugly 15-0 loss to the Blue Jays on Saturday.

The moment of the season to me came Sunday, when slumping Royce Lewis hit a home run off the end of the bat to propel the Twins to a 4-3 win over Toronto.

They followed that up with a 5-4* win to start a road trip in Tampa Bay last night. Trevor Larnach hit a three-run homer in the second, and the Twins bullpen allowed just a run in more than five innings after Simeon Woods-Richardson was roughed up early.

Three more with the Rays, then three important games in Kansas City. The Royals have gone in the tank since I predicted they’d win the division 10 days ago. The Twins are now 3.5 back of Cleveland and a full game up on Kansas City.

Lynx Rebounds with Win

Two nights after their seven-game winning streak came to an end with a blowout loss to Dallas, the Lynx got back on the winning track Sunday, beating Chicago 79-74 behind 22 points and six assists from Courtney Williams.

They’re three back of New York for the top overall spot in the WNBA. Minnesota is off until Friday’s game at Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever.

Loons Earn Rare Road Win in Bay Area

The Loons have just two wins since June 1 - both coming against last-place San Jose, including Saturday’s 2-1 road victory behind two goals from Bongokuhle Hlongwane.

Despite 10 wins in 26 games, the Loons would be in a No. 8 vs. No. 9 play-in game in the West if the playoffs started today.
