British Open week at Royal Troon is upon us. Good for those of us of a certain age who wake up when the birds begin to sing.

Vikings’ WR Jordan Addison was arrested for DUI while asleep in his car near LAX. Now, this happened a week after Addison’s teammate was killed by a drunk driver. And, it’s the second vehicular issue with Addison in a year. I left pro sports 10 years ago and could still get you a car in any major city you wanted in 10 minutes. Plus, what’s an Uber Black maybe $100? Ridiculous, and no sympathy.

Twins Hit All-Star Break on Sour Note

An errant relay throw in the ninth inning led to a Twins 3-2 loss in San Francisco. Minnesota heads into the All-Star Break losing two straight.

The Twins were held without a base runner for six innings, but it was tied 2-2 in the ninth. Mike Yastrzemki tripled - the ball got past a diving Manuel Margot. Brooks Lee’s relay throw wound up in the Giants dugout, giving San Francisco a win you’ll usually see in Little League.

Minnesota is 4.5 games back of first-place Cleveland, but only 2.5 games up on Kansas City for the final Wild Card spot.

Carlos Correa won’t participate in the All-Star Game due to plantar fasciitis, leaving Willi Castro as the only Twin to participate in the game.

The Twins come out of the break with two at home against Milwaukee and three versus Philadelphia. When will Royce Lewis be back in the lineup?

Caitlin Clark, Fever Down Lynx at Target Center

Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve was less than pleased before the game to talk about Caitlin Clark, so I can’t imagine she was thrilled to hear the hometown crowd cheer Clark on after Indiana’s 81-74 win at Target Center.

Reeve, who is coaching Team USA later this month - a team Clark was left off of - said she “couldn’t give two shits” about a potential pro Indiana crowd.

Clark, who has been harrassed with physical play all year, was assessed a technical foul for shoving a Lynx player who was attempting to slow her down. Clark finished with 17 points, as did last year’s No. 1 pick Aliyah Boston.

Minnesota played its fourth straight game without injured Napheesia Collier. The Lynx has fallen out of first place in the West and finishes the “first half” of the schedule with a Wednesday  matinee against Atlanta. I’m bringing two teenagers to the game…

Chaos at Copa America Final; What Will World Cup 2026 Look Like in U.S.?

Copa America - a month-long tournament hosted in the U.S. to find the best soccer team in North America - came to a dramatic conclusion before the Final even started last night. The game between Colombia and Argentina was delayed more than an hour in a half as fans without tickets rushed the gates on a sweltering day in Miami.

This comes just a few days after players from Uruguay had to climb into the stands to defend family members who were fighting with Colombian fans in Charlotte.

Oh and by the way, the U.S. - including Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium - will be hosting the World Cup in two summers. Plenty of time to work things out, and this event wasn’t run locally. But a black eye, for sure.

Loons Tie in Houston

The Loons’ winless streak hit eight (with six losses) Saturday in a 1-1 draw in Houston. At least they stopped their six-game losing streak, I guess?

Minnesota hosts D.C. United on Wednesday.
