Vikings Playoff Experience.
The Vikings wild card playoff game didn’t bear the result the home fans hoped for as the New York Giants won 31-24 but the atmosphere around US Bank Stadium before and at the game itself was electric!
Before the game, the entire area next to the stadium was one big party with music pumping, free giveaways, and plenty of free drinks! Leading up to the gates opening, the area was packed with Vikings and Giants fans alike enjoying the atmosphere together.
Before the game started, US Bank Stadium did a fantastic job hyping up the crowd complete with fake snow falling from the rafters to really hammer home the idea of the Vikings “Defending the North”.
During the Giants’ first offensive drive, the stadium video board attempted to rowel fans up with a quote from Giant’s offensive lineman Nick Gates who exclaimed that he “thought… they would be a lot louder” when the Giants visited the Vikings on Christmas Eve and took shots at the whole region saying that “they’re Midwest people… they’re too nice”. Hey, at least we can afford apartments larger than shoe boxes!
During halftime, Ludacris featured on a swiftly built stage in the southeast endzone and performed some of his biggest hits, although most of them were just tracks that he’s featured in and not his own singles.
The game was extremely back and forth with several momentum swings as pandemonium would break out across the stadium with every Vikings touchdown. However, the Vikings fell short thanks to a lackluster defensive performance that allowed the Giants to score the second most points in a game all season. Giants players and fans alike took the opportunity to mock the Skol chant after the win to the displeasure of several Vikings fans.
Overall, the gameday experience was everything you’d hope from a big playoff matchup as the Vikings staff put on a fantastic show – the only thing missing was a W for the home team.
